…and we’re visiting once again with the boys’ Godparents, Chris and Sherrie. They’re here from Virginia to enjoy the warm Florida Christmas and I can’t say I blame them. This afternoon, the boys enjoyed some time in the pool with their “Godbrother”, Chase, and this evening the grown-ups drank a little beer and grilled-out some steaks…

After dinner, we headed down the road to the St Augustine Beach Pier to enjoy the New Year’s Eve fireworks…

We had a great time, and on the way home there were a couple of very tired little boys that looked like this…

Bad Boys

Today the boys and I met-up with their Godfather for a visit to the Old Fort in St Augustine. He has a son who is just a little older than A2, and they’re the best of friends. All three boys had a great time exploring the rooms around the fort’s lower level, and Alex especially enjoyed peering over the bastion walls on top…

This never gets old! And what a beautiful day!!

Christmas Morning

…and the boys actually (sorta) slept-in until 7:00. It was Alex up first, as I heard him pouncing on Adam with what an excitement-filled shriek, “Santa Claus came! Santa Claus came!”

So, after getting some coffee brewing, mom and I headed upstairs to find the boys had already been into their stockings. They could barely contain themselves long enough to sit for a quick picture in front of the tree.

Then, the wrapping paper literally flew off the presents scattered beneath the tree…

Christmas Morning

The highlight of the morning (for me, anyway) was the look on their faces when they opened the NFL jerseys Santa had left for them…

Later that morning, Adam asked, “If it’s Jesus’ birthday, why do we get presents?” I explained, though I’m not quite sure he understood, that Christmas reminds us of Jesus’ birth. The important thing is to accept Jesus and what He did for us. The presents are like God’s grace, which is a gift to us for our belief in Him. Our faith is our gift to Him.

9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
(Luke 2:9-12)

…and that’s what Christmas is all about.

The lights are up…finally! For my part, I hung the lights along the roof (because to me, putting-up Christmas lights is a lot like painting the house…I don’t like that much, either ;-)) The rest was Cindy. She always does such a good job…this year she even wrapped the garage…

Every year we take a family photo to put on our Christmas card. It’s getting a lot easier as the boys get older, but we still need to get it done as quickly as possible because their interest still fades pretty quickly. We thought it’d be nice to flashback to the boys earlier Christmas, so I loaded the picture of the boys 2d Christmas to the television…

All-in-all, we got several good pictures and it was hard to decide which one to use, so we used several…

Of course, the boys we very cooperative this year, but Charlie, not so much…
