Guess who’s in charge of cooking frying the Christmas turkey?

Christmas morning and the boys are up early. The first thing they go for are their Christmas stockings. Santa always fills them with all kinds of little goodies, and they love to see what’s hidden in there…

Christmas Morning

The rest of the morning was a whirlwind of wrapping paper…I’m so dizzy!

It’s a family tradition to spend Christmas Eve at Pa’s house. It’s hard to believe that we can fit this many people in this relatively small house. The boys really enjoy playing with their Cousins, Aunts and Uncles.

Pa's House

There’s no better place to be for the Holidays than my grandfathers old farm house. This house was built at the turn-of-the-century (last century!), and it’s packed full of memories of my childhood. The creaks and groans generated by the wind outside, the dim lighting and uneven floors, the musty smells, the warmth of the wood-burning stove, and the conversation and laughter of a family at Christmas.

Well, the bags are packed and the cars are loaded and ready to go. Today we traveled up I-95 to spend Christmas with family in Virginia. We decided to take two cars to take advantage of the bed of my truck. Besides, it’s an easier ride if each of us takes a kid 🙂

Anyway, Adam was with me to start. He was very excited this morning and talked a mile-a-minute. I don’t think he paused for a breath for 250 miles…then BAM! HE’S OUT!

Christmas Card

Alex and his big brother, Nick…

The boys birthday is still a few days away, but we took advantage of the weekend to have a party for them with friends and family (some of whom had to travel to get here).

Jess, Kameran, and Nick arrived early, along with Nana and Pop…

My brother Dave and his family came a while later…

Aunt GiGi and Uncle Bob, and friends Mike and Mandy came, too. Naturally, the boys EACH have their very own birthday cake made out of cupcakes shaped into the number “4” because they’re twins and we can’t have just ONE cake…

This is the best thing about cupcakes…

Before the evening ended, and since everyone would be returning home tomorrow morning, we snap a family photo…who knows when we’ll all be in one place together again!

The Whole Family

The boys had a blast, and so did we!

Today we took pictures for our annual Christmas card. The boys were uncharacteristically cooperative! This one’s definitely going on the card…
