This afternoon the boys road the train for the first time. We were going into Philly to see the Christmas lights, but the highlight of the trip was the train! They were pretty excited, especially Adam, who of course, was not very patient at all…

Of course there was only one way to keep them from crossing the yellow line at the edge of the platform…

And so YADDA, YADDA, YADDA, we walked around Philly until FINALLY! The boys are back in the train station for the ride back home! Adam is still impatient…

This year we spent our Thanksgiving holiday with the boys’ Godfamily, Chris, Sherrie, and their little boy Chase (a.k.a. Billy the Kid). We took-off Wednesday afternoon for the 4-hour drive south.

The dinner was fantastic and much, much more was available than we could possibly eat. We’re going to spend another day here before we head back up to PA.

It was great to see our friends again and the boys (dubbed “The Angry Men” by Chase) had a blast playing with their “Godbrother,” Billy the Kid…

Yes, that’s exactly what I am, for tomorrow, I’m boarding a plane for a 2-1/2 hour flight to Orlando to take 2-1/2-year-old twin boys on a Disney World “vacation.”

I can see it now:

“times two”

Let’s see, what other words could possibly describe my state-of-mind?

ape, barmy, bats in the belfry, batty, berserk, bonkers, cracked, crazed, cuckoo, daft, delirious, demented, deranged, dingy, dippy, erratic, flaky, flipped, flipped out, freaked out, fruity, idiotic, insane, kooky, lunatic, mad, mad as a March hare, mad as a hatter, maniacal, mental, moonstruck, nuts, nutty, nutty as fruitcake, of unsound mind, out of one’s mind, out of one’s tree, out to lunch, psycho, round the bend, schizo, screw loose, screwball, screwy, silly, touched, unbalanced, unglued, unhinged, unzipped, and wacky!

That just about does it…pick one! What in the world am I thinking?!?

Cindy and the boys visited with mom and the rest of the family, while me and my dad continued on to Pennsylvania to meet the movers. The movers arrived on Wednesday and unloaded the truck, while dad and I began unpacking. Cindy, mom and the boys came up yesterday. Now, the bulk of the packing is finished, but we’ll be spending the next couple of weeks finishing-up.

Here’re a couple of pictures of the boys visit with the family in Virginia…

This weekend we took off for South Florida to visit some of Cindy’s family. Although we had originally planned on leaving early Thursday morning, we considered ourselves very fortunate to be backing out of the driveway at 11 a.m. Wednesday night was a nightmare challenge because Adam was being a butt teething, and we didn’t get much packing done. Anyway, the trip went pretty well, and although the boys had their moments, the 10-hour drive ended without incident.

The boys had a great time, and just loved all the attention they were getting. First, they met their “Poppy” (Cindy’s stepdad) who met us at the hotel with a couple Coronas in hand. I guess he knew after a long day traveling with a couple of 6-month-olds, mom and dad could use a beer!

Next they met their Nanny Vera (Cindy’s mom). As you can see they just seemed to hang on every word…

They also got to meet their Auntie GiGi (left), who was much like a second mom to them, and their Uncle Bob. GiGi and Bob made a four-hour drive to be here, and we enjoyed a great Fourth of July barbeque with Bob’s brother Dave! Finally, their Auntie Sharon (right), who is very beautiful, and not at all prissy, came to visit. She was out-of-town when we first arrived, and stopped by the hotel on her way home. Unfortunately, she arrived at dinnertime 😉

All-in-all it was a great trip. The only drawback were the nights in the hotel. After a full day out-and-about, the boys were wired, and it took a while for them to calm down enough to fall off to sleep. This made the evenings a pain in the ass little trying, but once they fell asleep, they were out for the night. Tomorrow morning, we’ll be up early (hopefully) and heading home.

Today, we set off for Virginia to visit Alex and Adam’s grandparents and extended family. We hit the road about 9 a.m. and stopped for a couple hours in Montgomery, Alabama, to see Jessica, the boys’ sister, and Kameran, their niece.

After a visit and quick bite to eat, we headed up I-85 toward Atlanta, Georgia. We got there right at rush-hour, and spent almost 2-hours getting through the city. By this time the boys were getting pretty restless, so we decided to stop for the night in Buford, Georgia, and stayed at a Hampton Inn across the street from the Mall of Georgia.

We checked-in, requesting a couple roll-away cribs (the manager had to borrow one from the Marriott next door), and moved into the room. After feeding the kids, we put them in their PJs and they were soon off to dreamland. Now it was time for mom and dad to get something to eat. So, we ordered some take-out from the Red Lobster next door to the hotel. We ate at the counter in the bathroom, so we wouldn’t disturb the boys.

Today, Cindy and the boys paid a visit to the hospital’s Chief of Professional Services for their overseas clearance. We’ll be moving to Italy this summer and the Air Force wants to ensure the gaining base can meet my family’s healthcare needs. A no-brainer, since they all were given a clean bill of health. Anyway, one more square filled!

The boys were very well behaved, well maybe not “very well”, considering Adam’s little meltdown… 😉

The boys and I visited Wal-Mart this morning to have their passport pictures taken. We’ll be traveling to Europe this summer, and gotta get the ball rolling…

They were both very well-behaved for the photographer, although Alex was snoozing pretty good when his turn came around.  The picture below was taken during a brief moment when he opened his eyes.  🙂

Could they be any cuter??
