The boys had doctor’s appointments this afternoon and their doctor was in her office on the other side of town, thus Alex…

The boys have begun saying their prayers at night. They put their hands together and bow their heads as mom or dad says the prayer, then they both say, “Amen.” Too cute!

Note to self: Although it’s tradition, and you’d think, harmless, to wish them, “Good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bedbugs bite,” one should never say the “bedbug” part to Adam. We said that to him, and he worriedly looked down at his mattress saying “Bite”-“Bug”-“Bite” as he climbed out of bed, never to return.

It took about 30-minutes to reassure him that there were, in fact, no bedbugs or bugs of any kind, in his bed, and there was nothing that was going to bite him.

Which was fortunate, otherwise we were looking at having to do something like this…

Adam was awake at 4:15 this morning, and there was no getting him back to sleep. Alas, he couldn’t even make it through lunch before the fatigue took it’s toll. So, here’s Adam slumping over his plate, as Alex looks on and wonders…

You know when you’re a NASCAR fan when your kids go to sleep with a race car instead of a teddy bear…

Well, not exactly: more like “converted” beds. A couple of days ago, I converted the boys cribs to toddler beds. We figured they were ready for the increased freedom the change would provide. After all, Adam was already climbing in and out of his crib at will, so this would actually make it a little safer for him.

Adams new bed

Adam took to the new arrangement right away; Alex, on the other hand, didn’t seem to care much for the change. The past two nights he wouldn’t settle down and go to sleep. Cindy ended up putting him in the Pack-n-Play, which did the trick.

So, I dis-converted (is that a word?) Alex’s toddler bed to a crib. The result? He was fine.

Alex is not a big fan of change.

Today, the boys took their first trip by airplane. The boys actually slept for about half of the two-hour flight from Philly to Jacksonville, Florida. Here’re a couple pictures of the most enjoyable part of the trip…

First, Alex:

Then, Adam:

All-in-all it was a pretty smooth flight, if you overlook Alex’s last-minute spitting-up episode(s)…yuk!

Tonight, we’re spending the night with Cindy’s sister’s family. Tomorrow, Cindy, her sister and the boys are heading to South Florida to visit Nanny and Poppy, then it’s Disney World!

Me? I’m working 🙁

Alex sleeps

Close your eyes and you will see
Micro-flashing neon lights
Open your eyes and you will see
It still looks like the same thing

Lie and wait for sleep and listen
To your heart beat too fast for sleep
Close your eyes and you will see
The sound asleep

I want to go, I want to go
I want to go down to go to sleep
Your frame of reference
Is my swimming pool

My, my swimming pool
Still looks like the China sea
Pool to sea and finally
The sound asleep

Feel the muscles in your face
Twitch, relax, remembering
Everything that went down and will go down
I want to go down to sleep

Insomnia, no sleep disease
Petties parking, feed me please
Lie and wait for sleep and listen
To your heart beat too fast for sleep
