Yesterday was the last day of school and Summer Vacation is officially underway! This is the fist sunny day we’ve had in almost two weeks and what better way to celebrate the gorgeous Florida weather and the de facto first day of Summer than a splash or two in the pool??

So, as has become a family tradition, Friday night is “Pizza and a Movie” night. Although mom joins us from time to time, it’s normally just the boys and me (mainly due to the movies we pick to watch, which typically involve super heroes–not mom’s thing).
Anyway, tonight is a typical night, with Marcos Pizza and the new “Black Panther” movie!

This afternoon, the boys and I went to the IMAX theater to see the new “Avengers: Infinity War” movie. Needless to say (if you’ve seen the movie, of course), the movie’s ending left us wondering “what the h…”, a sentiment especially reflected in the boys’ somewhat bewildered look…
Still, we can’t wait for the next installment!! (which is just the point 🙂 )

It was “free hat” night at the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp game tonight! We got here about a half-hour before the gates opened so we wouldn’t miss out! And we didn’t! Whoo-hoo!
Anyway, now we’re ready for some BASEBALL! And big pretzels, hotdogs, sno-cones, and cotton candy!!
It was a good game and the Jax Shrimp beat the Pensacola Blue Wahoos 2-1, with John Norwood the only Shrimp putting points on the board with 2 home runs! After the game, we hung around for the Saturday Night Fireworks! What a great time!!

Well, it looks like the annual sickness has run its course and everyone is feeling better. Though the air is still a little cool, we decided to take the boat out for some fresh air! Charlie was thrilled!
The water was a little choppy, so we had to take it slower than usual (to the boys’ disappointment), but hey, a bad day boating is still better than a good day at work, amiright?

It was about this time last year and for about three solid weeks that everyone in the family got sick. Alex is just getting over his pink eye and now Adam is feeling pukey…

The boys have a class history project to present. Both of them had to choose a famous person and research their life, develop a timeline of their life and document pertinent history, put together a storyboard, and come to school dressed AS that person. They also have to answer questions from their classmates about their subject person.
Alex chose Sitting Bull…
While Adam chose Jackie Robinson…
They helped Mom and Dad make their costumes…
and joined their classmates in presentations…
Mom was able to attend and said they both did very well. Their teachers must have agreed because they each received an “A”!

Boating season has officially started! Today, the boys and I took Charlie out on the water for a few hours…
It seems like it’s been forever since we’ve felt the wind and spray in our face…especially Alex!
It was GREAT just being outside! It got a little cloudy and we got a few sprinkles, but that didn’t put a damper on our fun!
On the way back to the marina, Adam took the wheel for a bit…
while Charlie daydreamed…

After each basketball game, the boys are recognized by their coach for their actions and attitudes on the court through the presentation of game day stars. The stars are multi-colored and represent the following attributes:
- Blue = Effort
- Red = Defense
- Gray = Offense
- Gold = Sportsmanship
- White = Christlikeness
We’re about two-thirds of the way through the season and each week, the boys bring me their stars to attach to their uniform…
Then we talk about what they did during the game to earn that particular star. They take pride in their accomplishment and most importantly, they’re learning the importance of hard work on the court, teamwork, and sportsmanship!
Well, Dad had to work, so Mom took the boys to Orlando for the weekend!
Although they spent some time at Disney…
they spent the majority of the time hanging-out at the pool…lounging in the hot tub…and enjoying some summer treats in the middle of winter…
Ahhh….it’s good to live in Florida!
