Today, the Den 1 boys wrapped-up their Good Knights Adventure. For the last couple of meetings they learned about the Knights of old and the code of chivalry, the rules by which they lived. The Tigers learned how much in common they have with these knights in that they live by the Scout Oath and Law, which together provide the rules by which the Scout behaves.

During this adventure, each scout made their very own shield and designed it around one aspect of the Scout Law…

This is Alex’s Shield: His design represents “Loyalty” This is Adam’s Shield: His design represents “Reverence”

We had a great time with this adventure and at the end of the meeting, all the Tigers got together for a picture with their shield’s in hand…

This weekend, while I enjoyed (??) a Leadership Conference in Phoenix, Cindy and the boys met Jess and her family in Orlando for a mini-vacation. Today, they started with a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious breakfast at Disney’s Grand Floridian, then will be moving on to Animal Kingdom.

Here’s the gang with The Mad Hatter…

And Kameran and Kalie don’t seem to mind the rather creepy looking Mary Poppins, but Cater John is a bit leery…

Oliver was thrilled to meet Pooh, and A2 always enjoy hanging-out with Tigger…

So, how do you top this breakfast adventure? How about a day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom?

Alex is getting itchy for the water. For the past two days he’s been going on about swimming. I tried to explain to him that the water was too cold for swimming right now, but he just wouldn’t accept it. So, I told him, “okay”, knowing he wouldn’t be in the water very long (if he got in at all). Anyway, this is as far as he got, but he still wouldn’t concede the water was too cold. I guess Dad still doesn’t know what he’s talking about. 😉

Alex wanted piano lessons, so naturally we buy a piano. But, hey, it looks nice and makes us look all sophisticated and stuff.

Guest: Do you play the piano?
Me: Why yes, I imagine I do.
Guest: Would you play something for me?
Me: Certainly, but you’ll need to use your imagination to hear it.

But Alex…that’ll be a different story!

wherein we learn that everyone is accountable.

The little league Braves are practicing their fundamentals. The boys are focused and the coach is providing instruction while hitting balls to them in the field. The coach is at the plate and the bat is in his right hand. In his left is the ball and with a flick of the wrist the ball is aloft. In a fluid motion, he grasps the bat with both hands and loads his swing as the ball begins it’s descent. He then launches into the swing, his hands guiding the bat to meet the ball. But the bat fails to make contact and the ball falls to the ground with a soft thud. For a moment the field is silent. Then a heckling voice is heard from left field as Adam yells, “STRIKE ONE!”

Strike!
